About Boogie
Where we started
Boogie Down South is hosted and organised by South West Swing, a swing dance not-for-profit established in 2014 in Australia's beautiful Margaret River Region.
Since 2017, Boogie Down South has delighted attendees with workshops from well-loved instructors; visited gorgeous venues like wineries, breweries, and local town halls; and showcased some of Western Australia's best jazz talent like Oz Big Band and Jessie Gordon.
We continue to focus on running a community-oriented event which prioritises time for social dancing, safe learning spaces, passionate teachers, and connecting with fellow swing dance lovers from near and far.

A walk down memory lane
We're proud to have hosted so many swing dance teachers from around the globe over the years. Take a stroll down memory lane with us.

Land, Place, Season
Boogie Down South takes place on Wardandi boodja, the home of the Saltwater people during Djilba in September.
Known as the Season of Conception, all around the South West we can find wildflowers blooming, baby whales nursed in the calm waters of Geographe Bay, and baby roos and little ducklings shaking off the winter cold and preparing for Kambarang just around the corner.
The Margaret River Region is a treasure trove for exploration outside of the program of Boogie Down South. Check out the Travel and Self-Tour pages for heaps of ways to dive in.

2026 ORGANISING COMMITTEE

Charlotte Round
Each year, Boogie Down South is organised by a committee of volunteers who pour their hearts and a whole lot of time into putting on a world-class event. It's a team that cares about the event quality, the little details that matter, and making sure everyone has a memorable and inspirational weekend. These faces above are your fellow community members, dancers, and just dang passionate lindy hoppers.
This event wouldn't be possible without the countless volunteering hours and those who help with registrations, set up, safety, and so much more!
